My favorite indication is indirect pulp capping, the most common indication in my practice. […] When I use Biodentine® XP as an indirect pulp cap, I know that I am using a material that is highly compatible and is going to stimulate the formation of reparative dentin, critical for the success of the restoration.
“As a busy clinician, I am on a daily basis in front of patients with different treatment needs. I have been using Biodentine® for the last 6 years. During the pandemic, I became a heavy user of Biodentine. Now, in 2023, Biodentine® is my first choice for different clinical situations. When I started to use Biodentine® XP, a big smile was on my face; the amazing experience of using Biodentine XP really makes a difference with the previous presentation of Biodentine®.
Honestly, I knew that something better in terms of the preparation of Biodentine® would be available at some point in my career. It was a nice surprise when I was in front of the box of Biodentine XP. In dentistry, we want to do things that are quick, easier for our dental assistants, and things that will save us time. When working with paediatric patients and adults, time is gold.
Biodentine® XP is much better, definitely much better than in the old days with all-in-one cartridges, direct placement, and 2 different volumes. It’s quicker and faster. We save material with Biodentine® XP, we have the ability to decide if we are going to use more or less material. It’s easy to place in the mouth.
I use Biodentine® XP every day. My favorite indication is indirect pulp capping, the most common indication in my practice. Indirect pulp capping means a deep carious lesion where I want to avoid exposing the pulp. Previous to the decision to place Biodentine XP in deep caries lesions, I had a clear diagnosis, no spontaneous pain, nor radiographic changes that indicate a pathological process of pulp origin. When I use Biodentine® XP as an indirect pulp cap, I know that I am using a material that is highly compatible and is going to stimulate the formation of reparative dentin, critical for the success of the restoration.
Furthermore, you can also use Biodentine as direct pulp capping, usually when you have a mechanical exposure or when you have trauma. You can also use Biodentine for pulpotomy. You can realise that in dentistry, the indirect pulp capping is something we do a lot more often than direct pulp capping; this is something that we, dentists, do daily. That‘s probably the reason why I am a heavy user of Biodentine XP.”
